Jay Van Blaricum, Attorney at Law

Licensed to Practice in Kansas

Jay graduated from the University of Kansas and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Kansas School of Law.  He was an editor on the KU Journal of Law and Public Policy, represented indigent individuals charged with misdemeanors with the Legal Aid Clinic, and served in the Judicial Clerkship Clinic with the Honorable Judge Monti Belot of the U.S. District Court, District of Kansas in Wichita.

Jay’s legal work began with judicial research attorney positions in the Kansas Court of Appeals. He has since acted as assistant general counsel, research attorney, litigation counsel, and Chief Hearing Officer for several executive agencies of the State of Kansas in Topeka. Jay’s expertise includes research and writing, administrative law, state and federal litigation, customer service, tax law, professional licensing and regulation, and constitutional law.

Jay owns a rescue Red-Bone Coonhound and an orange rescue cat, and has volunteered in fostering dogs with special medical needs, fostering retired greyhounds, and assisting in a wide array of conservation and sustainability efforts to improve conditions for all life. He is excited for the opportunity to apply his experience to work with Barnett Law Office to meet the legal needs of animals and the people that love them; a cause he believes in deeply.
