Whitney has spent the last fifteen years immersed in the field of Animal Welfare, in a variety of capacities. Most recently, she spent five years in a leadership role at one of Kansas City's largest animal welfare and adoption organizations.

Whitney's greatest passion  is ensuring organization's are continually examining their ability to provide equitable access to adoption, veterinary care, and other essential shelter programming. This includes organization-wide education on workplace culture initiatives, staff training focused on positive and welcoming interactions with *all* community members, and guiding team members on how to examine their potential biases when working with members of the public. Ensuring that shelters are a safe haven, where community members can receive care for their pets and potential adopted pets, free of judgement, is essential in our continued quest to eliminate pet overpopulation in the United States and improve animal welfare practices throughout our communities.

Whitney is excited to use her experience and expertise in her role at Barnett Law, and to be a part of an amazing group of female change makers. She also has a house full of pit bull looking dogs, and is very passionate about the firm's work on ending Breed Specific Legislation.

Whitney received her Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, where she was also a member of the Varsity Women's Tennis Team. She then went on to receive her MBA from Ball State University, with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. During her time at Ball State she served as the Assistant Women's Tennis Coach.

In her free time she loves hanging out with her husband, wildly hilarious (to her, at least) toddler, and a menagerie of pets, including Oliver, Piggy Smalls, Sparky the bird, and an aquarium full of Death Feigning Desert Beetles.
